The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Flypast

The 2nd of June 2022 would see the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Flypast
over Buckingham Palace. A celebration to commemorate the Queen being the head of state for
over 70 years. During the flypast 70 aircraft would fly, in formation, over Buckingham Palace.
This flypast would contain aircraft from all three branches of the armed forces, The Army,
The Royal Navy & The Royal Air Force, with both aircraft & helicopters taking part, as well as
the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, based at RAF Coningsby, with their Avro Lancaster,
Supermarine Spitfires & Hawker Hurricanes.
The weather, fortunately, was good & at around 12.45PM
the first of this large formation of aircraft arrived over my position. We could see the BBMF in the
distance & the Helicopters would join the formation closer to Buckingham Palace but we did
manage to see everything else, including some pretty unique aircraft combinations.
The most memorable part of the flypast must be seeing 15 Eurofighter Typhoons in formation,
forming the '70', symbolising 70 years of the Queen as the head of state of the
United Kingdom & Northern Ireland.
